A Leader without Clothes

It is said that a picture paints a thousand words and a cartoon in the Italian newspaper ‘Corriere della Sera’ that caught my eye this week, did just that. It portrayed David Cameron, the British Prime Minister post the Panama Paper leaks, stark naked.

Politicians, world leaders and business people in various countries in their responses to the Panama Papers have in my opinion been shown for what they really are; small, fearful men, making knee jerk reactions to each new media exposure. As a result of the revelations the Pandora’s Box has been opened to expose a culture of lies and deceit.
The cartoon would be hilarious if there was not so much that needed to be addressed in our world at this time. The Earth I believe needs leaders with a long term Vision of at least 50-100 years. A vision of a better world where we all live in harmony with each other and with the natural world. All decisions and choices would be aligned to this long term vision. That way we would all be working together, the world over, for our common goals. This takes away all short term reactive thinking and forces us to make considered and adult decisions regarding how we behave in the world.

If you are a company or corporation, do your products and processes fit our shared 50 – 100 year Vision? If your product or process wipes out rainforests, which is against a better world for our children and our children’s children, then why would I buy your product? Why would we subsidise you with our taxes to destroy our world?
So where will these long term Visionary leaders come from? None of the current bunch seem up to the job of being an Elder for our tribe. Perhaps even by putting the desire forward that there is a need for a new type of visionary leader might call on someone to step forward. For desire is action. We must desire a better world and then look to a leader to push this forward and support them in holding and creating the vision. We ‘the people’ give the mandate to our Leaders for how we want our world to be, so let’s hold a desire for a 50- 100 year Vision of a better world for us, our children and our children’s children to live in. And we would get to see a leader with their clothes on. What a legacy that would be!
